Optimal Usage of LCD Projectors for Polarised Stereoscopic Projection

چکیده

Polarised stereoscopic projection involves the polarisation of the two projected images in orthogonal directions e.g. +/45 degrees for linear polarisation, or clockwise and counter-clockwise for circular polarisation. When LCD projectors are used for polarised stereoscopic projection it is important to take into consideration the fact that the output of these types of projectors is already polarised but not necessarily in the directions required for stereoscopic projection. The paper considers the amount of light loss of various polarised stereoscopic projection configurations to recommend optimal configurations. The paper also points out that it is advantageous that the output of an LCD projector is already polarised. In general, there will be less light loss in the polarisation process when an LCD projector is used for stereoscopic projection as compared to when a projector which outputs unpolarised light is used (e.g. CRT and DMD/DLP).

Implementing Multi-Viewer Stereo Displays

In this paper we describe our implementations of multi-user stereo systems based on shuttered LCD-projectors and polarization. The combination of these separation techniques allows the presentation of more than one stereoscopic view on a single projection screen. We built two shutter configurations and designed a combined LC-shutter/polarization setup. Our first test setup was a combination of ...

Bringing Participatory Design to Practical Application – The Interrelation between LCD-Projection, Facilitation, and Participatory Design Bringing Participatory Design to Practical Application – The Interrelation between LCD-Projection, Facilitation, and Participatory Design

Typically, technical support for groups is discussed in terms of Group Decision Support Systems and Group Support Systems. Nevertheless, the diffusion of these technically sophisticated systems is rather low. This paper fertilizes a simpler technology for participatory design purposes namely LCD-projectors. LCD-projectors are used to project the content of a monitor on the wall to make it visib...

Construction of a Three-sided Immersive Telecollaboration System

The so-called “blue-c” is a novel three sided immersive projection system, which has been especially designed to support telecollaborative teamwork [4]. Therefore, special projection screens are used, which can be switched to a transparent state electrically. The user is captured with sixteen cameras in total, standing outside of the projection room. These images are then processed to create a ...

Using a high-definition stereoscopic video system to teach microscopic surgery

Introduction: While there is an increasing demand for minimally invasive operative techniques in Ear, Nose and Throat surgery, these operations are difficult to learn for junior doctors and demanding to supervise for experienced surgeons. The motivation for this study was to overcome teaching obstacles during microscopic surgical training by the use of high-definition (HD) stereoscopic video mo...
